World Consumer Rights Day 2023: Protecting the Welfare of Consumers in the Absence of a functioning Consumer Protection law

CUTS International Accra, with partnership with the Law Faculty of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), held a virtual meeting to advocate for the speedy passage of the Consumer Protection Law.

The meeting also provided a platform for various regulators in Ghana, including the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), National Communication Authority (NCA), Ghana Standard Authority (GSA), National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) to highlight what their respective institutions/organization are doing to protect the rights of consumers in the absence of a functioning Consumer Protection Law.

In attendance were over 95 practitioners, academic experts, government representatives, development partners, business associations and consumer organizations.
